He's The One

My times are in Your hands. Psalm 31:15

He's The One
We live in a world consumed by uncertainty, and we realize how little control we actually have over tomorrow. But as believers, we are given a peace that surpasses all understanding and transcends the future.
I don't know what tomorrow holds, but I know the One who holds tomorrow. I know Jesus. He is with me today, tomorrow, and all the days to come. Therefore, there's nothing to fear—Jesus is my peace.
My peace can't rely on my own feelings and circurmstances—which is a good thing, because they all seem to change whenever the wind blows! Instead, my peace rests entirely on the absolute promises of God. I know Jesus is with me because He promises He will be, even to the end of the age (Matthew 28:20). Paul reminds me that Christ dwells right inside my heart through faith (Ephesians 3:17), anchoring me and holding me secure. God says He will strengthen me, help me, and uphold me with His righteous right hand (Isaiah 41:10). And Jesus tells me that He gives me eternal life, that I will never perish, and that no one can snatch me out of His hand (John 10:27-28). Therefore, there's nothing to fear—Jesus is my Savior.
Since I don't know what tomorrow will bring, I never have to rely on myself to figure it all out. Instead, I can rely on the One who already has it all figured it— the One who holds complete authority over time, history, the future, and all of creation! He's in control of today, tomorrow, and all the days to come. Therefore, there's nothing to fear—Jesus is The Alpha and Omega.
When I look at Psalm 23 through the lens of God's grace, I see that my Shepherd is the ultimate Provider and Initiator in all that I need. I notice His active, sovereign grace throughout the verses: He's the One who makes me lie down in green pastures; He's the One who leads me beside still waters (Psalm 23:2). When I wander or get tired, He's the One who restores my soul. He's the One who leads me in paths of righteousness—not because of my own merit or good works, but for His name's sake (Psalms 23:3). And He's the One who also holds tomorrow. My needs and my times are in His hands.
Because of Him
I know my right standing before God is entirely based on His choosing, His sovereignty, His glory, and His faithfulness, not my own merit. God's Word tells me that it's because of Him that I am in Christ Jesus (1 Cor 1:30), not because of me!
Even though I often stumble—I desire to obey my Lord Jesus. And yet, I know He's the One who gives me the grace to do so, not my own willpower. He's the One who has given me the Holy Spirit, who teaches and guides me, convicts and comforts me, and encourages and empowers me to live out my faith in Jesus. It's because of Him I am in Christ Jesus. What grace!
So, even when tomorrow looks dreadful or just ho-hum, there's nothing to dread or be anxious about. I know Jesus is always with me and will give me the grace I need. He quenhches my thirst from His living waters (John 7:37-38) He gives me bread for my body and bread for my soul (John 6:51) Jesus gives me life itself, because He is the Life (John 14:6) Jesus gave me everything I could ever need when He gave me His own life on the cross. Through simple faith in Jesus, He gives me the free gift of eternal life (Rom, 6:23, John 3:16). Truly, what more could I ever want? (Psalm 23:1) Because of Him I have all that I need and more!
Hands Off The Wheel
It’s one thing to look at these truths and simply agree, but it’s another thing to live them out. How do we actually carry the peace of Jesus into our day-to-day reality—especially when we find ourselves walking through a valley?
First off, the valleys of this broken world are unpredictable and messy. And man, lately doesn't it feel like there are potholes, ditches, and unexpected turns everywhere we look? The enemy can be relentless. When anxiety creeps in, we naturally strain our eyes to see down every dark path. Or we shut them altogether and just hope it'll all go away! We wish we could map out the future, jump ahead, and skip the painful parts altogether. We want to know exactly how long the valley will be and when we will finally reach those green pastures and still waters. We naturally want to be in control of the timeline and the outcome.
But our peace is this: Jesus, our Good Shepherd, handles the unknown so we don’t have to. What a weight we don't have to carry! Who would want to figure all that out anyway or be in charge of cleaning up the mess? And when we do try to clean it up on our own, doesn't it seem like we make a bigger mess? So Christian, take your hands off the wheel! Who are we kidding anyways—Jesus already has the wheel! He's the One who's in control. We don’t need to have all the answers or know what tomorrow holds. As Jesus reminds us in Acts 1:7, “The Father alone has the authority to set those dates and times, and they are not for you to know.” So that should settle that!
So Christian, your security and comfort do not depend on your ability to figure out tomorrow. Instead, your peace rests in this simple truth: you know the One who holds tomorrow. You know Jesus. Because He walks with you today, tomorrow, and every day to come, you have nothing to fear. Jesus is your peace, and He holds you too, right in the palm of His hand. And He will never let you go!
“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid. John 14:27
And because of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption. 1 Corinthians 1:30
We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps. Proverbs 16:9
Heavenly Father,
When tomorrow is too big for me to hold, help me to breathe, rest in the Jesus, and praise You for Your grace. Today, help me to trust Jesus, knowing He's the One who holds today, tomorrow, and all the days to come. And He's the One who will show me the way to go, one step at a time. In Jesus' name I pray amen.
