When someone is born again, one is given a new heart and a whole new nature in which that person comes under transformation by the power of the Holy Spirit. This person goes from dead in sin to alive in Christ by grace through faith. When a person converts to becoming a Christian, there is an actual, literal, radical transformation that takes place. Being born again is not just some symbolic spiritual lingo we casually throw around. Being born again is the biggest milestone and turning point of a person’s entire existence. The transformation begins with a change in mind (repentance and turning away from sin) and turning to Christ, which inevitably leads to a change in life and new affections, yielding to a righteous life lived out by faith; namely a love for the Lord and others and obedience to His Word, which is the outward evidence of inward faith in Jesus. Believers are no longer slaves to sin but slaves to righteousness and free from the bondage of sin (Romans 6:15-23).
