The Three Elements of True Saving Faith:
 
1. An intellectual element (notitia), which is a positive recognition of the Truth
2. An emotional element (assensus), which includes a deep conviction and affirmation of the Truth
3. A volitional element (fiducia), which involves a personal trust in Jesus Christ as both Lord and Savior.
 
This includes a genuine surrendering to His Lordship. (Meaning that believers will have a genuine desire to obey the Word of God when we truly trust Him and His goodness for our lives). Obedience to God's Word is simply the by-product and outward expression of our inward faith in Jesus. Obedience results from an inward persuasion and consequent faith. It’s a very simple concept. Obeying God's Word, (not perfectly but as our overall general lifestyle through the believer’s sanctification (being made holy)), is proof that our faith in Jesus is authentic. We are not saved by works, but we are saved by grace through faith alone, which naturally produces good works by the indwelling Holy Spirit. 
 
God's grace is given to believers so that we may obey Him with joy and live a life that glorifies Him, not so that we may live however we please as if we don’t believe in Him. The words faith and obedience, believe and obey are synonymous throughout all of Scripture and come from the same exact word in the original Greek - Pisteuo (See John 3:36).
