But as it is written, “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him (1 Corinthians 2:9).
 
This verse, often incorrectly interpreted to refer to the wonders of heaven, actually refers to the wisdom that God has prepared for believers. In other words, God’s truth is not discoverable by eye or ear (objective or empirical evidence), nor is it discovered by the heart, mind, or mere human intellect or logical reasoning (subjective or rational conclusions). 
 
God’s hidden wisdom, found only in Scripture, is only discoverable and understood by those who put their trust in Christ alone for salvation. God’s wisdom is nonsense or foolishness to unbelievers, and at times, offensive to the proud and hard-hearted. His wisdom cannot be fully understood, trusted, and loved apart from the indwelling Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 2:14). Jesus Christ is the highest, purest, truest form of wisdom that exists and the only wisdom that leads to eternal life. Wisdom only begins with having a fear of the LORD. The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding (Proverbs 9:10). (Fear means reverence, deep respect, and awe)
